Your First Visit

Chiropractic

Plan on spending approximately 1 hour in our office for your first visit and 30 minutes on your second visit. Subsequent visits are considerably shorter.

After you have finished filling out the New Patient History, Patty, our Patient Specialist will review this with you asking specific questions about your condition, finding out what your health care goals are, and explaining the process of your first two visits. You will then be ready to see the doctor for a complete examination.

After the doctor has reviewed your chart he will then be prepared to give you a Report of Findings. The Report is given on the second visit along with your first adjustment. This typically occurs within 1-2 days after your initial exam. During this time, he will let you know how he can help you with your condition as well as discuss treatment options. Patty will meet with you again to ensure that you understand your Treatment Plan, go over a few procedural tips and assist you with any questions you may have.

Your specific condition may require x-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. The doctor will typically discuss this with you in the first 1-2 visits.

Massage

When scheduling your first massage:
  • Please let the front desk know how long you would like your massage to last.
  • It is helpful to schedule your first appointment for one hour in order for you and your massage therapist to get to know each other. If you wish to have a brief massage, we can schedule 30 minutes.
  • Please plan on arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete some entrance forms (not required if you are already an established Chiropractic patient in our office).

Please let your massage therapist know if your appointment is for:

  • A general relaxing massage - traditionally known as Swedish massage; or
  • A healing massage - directed toward a specific healing concern known as Therapeutic massage
Good communication between you and your massage therapist is very important. Please speak with the therapist about the following preferences for the massage work:
  • Your comfort and position on the table
  • Depth of work and any pain
  • Location of work
  • Oil is often used to facilitate gliding over the skin for specific muscle treatment. Please let the therapist know if you prefer not to have oil.
  • Whether you would like to leave some clothing on or not. Massage therapists are trained to use draping to respect your privacy.
After a first massage, some people experience more energy while others may be more fatigued. Listen to what your body is telling you. Toxins are sometimes released into your bloodstream during the massage process, so drinking plenty of water is important to help flush them out of your body.

Enjoy your massage. You are taking care of your health by engaging in this relaxing and/or therapeutic process!
